02 - Spray System

A fire spray system is a fixed fire protection system that uses interconnected nozzles to discharge water in a specific pattern, effectively controlling or extinguishing fires. These systems are designed to protect specific areas or equipment, often in industrial settings like power stations or oil and gas facilities. These systems can be activated automatically by detection / alarm systems or can be manually.

There are two main types of water spray systems:

Medium Velocity Water Spray Systems (MVWSS)

These use conical or fan-shaped sprays for fire and exposure protection, especially where fire extinguishment with water isn't possible, such as in LPG storage.

High Velocity Water Spray Systems (HVWSS)

Designed for extinguishing fires involving flammable liquids with high flashpoints, like transformer or lube oil fires, through emulsification, cooling, and smothering.

Advantages of water spray systems
Water spray systems offer several benefits, such as being environmentally safe, cost-effective, having a simple mechanism, allowing for rapid activation (especially with deluge systems), providing wide coverage, and being versatile across different environments.
